The redesign of this website has been a long-time-coming. I had been using my previous design, built with SSI, CSS and HTML, but very static otherwise, for about four years. But alas, all must change and so here is the newly redesigned site.

Audio/Video Editing and Production
With eight years of video production experience (1989-1997) as a Producer/Director prior to moving to web design and development. Ellen’s experience includes how to create video and audio projects for both broadcast and the web. Software used includes iMove, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, and old-style A/B roll tape editing as well as using a variety of video cameras and production lighting equipment.
Audio projects include mastering recordings for CD and web output using Garage Band and Audacity and previously, Sound Designer.

Keep it Simple… Complex Systems Should Not be Complex to the User
I had a discussion the other day in a room full of programmers and system administrators where the conversation migrated to how usable a tool should be, in this case software, if it were a complex system. The argument from some in the room was that, “hey, it’s a complex system, it will be complex to the user”, to which my response was, “Really?”
