Pasadena City College needed to better understand their users. A full user research initiative was established for of their site as it moved to a new content management system, OmniUpdate.
The homepage had become cluttered with links for audiences other than the main target audience – new students. User research involved one-on-0ne stakeholder interviews, focus groups with new students, and discussion meetings with the website redesign committee to understand the college’s interests. Reviewing Google Analytics data, incorporating the results of interviews, and best practices in higher education websites, recommendations were made to push the website into new, more solid, ground with it’s target audience.
